BA Serves KFC After Catering Snafu

In a rather clucky affair, British Airways flight BA252 found itself in a bit of a pickle on 23JUL when a catering conundrum left passengers with a unique dining experience.

The incident occurred during a routine flight from Providenciales, Turks & Caicos to Nassau, Bahamas, and onwards to London, England.

According to passengers onboard, the trouble sprouted when the aircraft's catering carts failed to keep their cool, leading to the unfortunate spoilage of all onboard meals. The affected flight, not just tailored for the short hop to NAS but also for the whopping 6,987-kilometre journey to LHR, left the airline scrambling for a solution.

Facing the unappetizing prospect of delays and disgruntled travellers, British Airways “hatched” a plan to keep spirits high (and tummies full) by collaborating with an unlikely partner – KFC!

Yes, the airline decided to go the extra crispy mile and sourced a supply of the Colonel's finest.

As the flight touched down in NAS, passengers were in for quite the surprise – instead of traditional airline cuisine, the cabin crew dished out dinner from KFC's iconic buckets of finger-lickin' good. Both business class and economy travellers were treated to this extravaganza, receiving a ration of one piece of chicken per person.

Social media erupted with reactions, ranging from amusement to disbelief.

A passenger's Instagram video labelled the incident an "absolute disgrace" and questioned the airline's ability to remember catering for a 12-hour flight. While some passengers might have preferred traditional airline food (would they, though?), British Airways took a swing at finding a quick resolution to the predicament.

Experts surmise that the mishap likely originated from the catering facility at PLS, leaving British Airways with little control over the situation. Nonetheless, the airline's ingenuity in adapting to the circumstances was commended by some passengers who acknowledged the effort to avoid lengthy delays.

Critics, however, pointed out that not all travellers were thrilled with the menu, and suggested British Airways offer additional snack options for those unenthusiastic about fried chicken.
